As the chair of the University Council, I am particularly delighted by the fact that the numerous and multifaceted activities of Kunstuniversität Linz continue to anchor this institution firmly in the public mind. The close association of IFK–International Research Center for Cultural Studies with Kunstuniversität Linz and the resulting synergies have strengthened the theoretical discussion and exploration of art and cultural phenomena. As per 1 January 2015, IFK will become a centre of Kunstuniversität Linz, which is sure to generate additional benefits for both the research profile and the range of teaching activities. On this note, the 20th anniversary of IFK and the 40th anniversary of Kunstuniversität Linz were in fact celebrated jointly. With splace, the University of Art and Design Linz in 2014 presented for the first time a digital magazine that is aimed at exploring novel formats of publication, exhibition and media and was conceived for tablet-based reading devices. This explorative and ludic communication medium enables Kunstuniversität Linz to take an international position in the current discourse on art, culture and society. I wish the University of Art and Design Linz continued great success in implementing its very ambitious plans for the future.
