Ab dem Studienjahr 2014 bietet das Institut für Bildende Kunst und Kulturwissenschaf ten neben dem Diplomstudium Bildende Kunst in den drei künstlerischen Be rei - chen Bildhauerei – transmedialer Raum, Experimentelle Gestaltung sowie Malerei & Grafik auch ein Bachelor- und Masterstudium in den beiden Studien rich tungen Plas - tische Konzeptionen / Keramik sowie textil·kunst·design an. In allen Studienangeboten ist der Fokus auf aktuelle Bereiche der Bildenden Kunst ge richtet. Entsprechend der Schwerpunktsetzung der Kunstuniversität Linz finden inter mediale Perspektiven eine besondere Berücksichtigung. Das Profil des Instituts liegt in der Verbindung von kulturwissenschaftlicher Forschung und künstlerischer Praxis. Diese Verknüpfung von Kunst und Wissenschaft steht im Zentrum der Lehre und ist an leitend für die Entwicklung und Erschließung der Künste wie der Forschung am Institut. Für das Studium sind eine projektorientierte und öf fent- lich keits adressierende Arbeitsweise ebenso charakteristisch wie die freie Schwer - punktsetzung. Studierende des Diplomstudiums der Bildenden Kunst haben die Möglich keit, sich einem der drei künstlerischen Bereiche zuzuordnen oder wäh rend des Stu diums den Schwerpunkt ihrer Arbeit aus dem Angebot aller Bereiche selbst zu wählen. Bei den Studienrichtungen Plastische Konzeptionen / Keramik so wie textil·kunst·design werden Studierenden materialorientierte Kompetenzen in der Kon zeption, Umsetz ung und Reflexion von Projekten vermittelt. Da zu kommt die Abteilung Staging Knowledge, welche das Ziel verfolgt, eine künst lerisch wissenschaftliche Forschungspraxis an der Schnittstelle von Wissens pro duk tion und Wissensrepräsentation zu etablieren. Die beiden wissenschaftlichen Be reiche Kulturwissenschaft sowie Kunstgeschichte und Kunsttheorie sind auf theo retische Grundlagenarbeit zentriert. Starting with the 2014 academic year, the Institute of Fine Arts and Cultural Studies, in ad dition to the Fine Arts diploma curricula in the three artistic disciplines Sculp ture – Transmedial Space, Experimental Art and Painting & Graphic Art, also of fers bachelor and master courses for two programmes, i.e. Sculptural Conceptions / Ceramics and textile·art·design. All curricula focus on topical fields of fine arts. In keeping with the mission state - ment of Kunstuniversität Linz, intermedial perspectives are given special attention. The profile of the Institute derives from the combination of cultural study and re search with artistic practice. This linkage of art and science is at the centre of all teaching activities and informs the development and interpretation of both art and re search at the Institute. The curricula, too, are characterised by a project- and audi ence- oriented working style as well as by the free choice of work focuses. Students of the Fine Arts diploma programmes may either decide for one of the three artistic disciplines or, during the course of their studies, are free to independently select their work focus from the offerings of all disciplines. Students of the Sculptural Conceptions / Ceramics and textile·art·design curricula are trained in material-oriented skills in connection with the development, implementation and re flection of projects. The range of training options is complemented by the Staging Knowledge Department, which aims to establish artistic-scientific research practice at the interface of knowledge production and knowledge representation. Conversely, the two sci en tific disciplines of Cultural Studies as well as of Art History and Art Theory emphasise fundamental theoretical work.
