Ready Made, Installation, Environment, Land Art, Minimal Art, Happening, Public Art, Process Art, Performance, Intermedia, Relational Aesthetics – keine künstlerische Gattung hat sich im Laufe der vergangenen Jahrzehnte so entwickelt und erweitert wie die Bildhauerei. Sie konfrontiert die heutige Warenwelt mit ihren eigenen Materialien, macht Räume mittels architektonischer, medialer oder akustischer Interventionen neu erfahrbar oder zaubert visionäre Objekte, die man noch nie zuvor gesehen hat. Diese erweiterte bildhauerische Praxis steht im Mittelpunkt des Studienbereichs Bildhauerei-transmedialer Raum. In den Ateliers, Werkstätten, Foto- und Computerstudios wird eine intensive Auseinandersetzung mit praktischen, theoretischen und konzeptuellen Fragestellungen zu zeitgenössischer Kunst und Kultur gepflegt und durch vielfältige Seminarschwerpunkte, internationale Gastvorträge und Studienreisen befruchtet. Besonderer Wert wird auf die aktive Teilnahme sowie die Zusammenarbeit der Studierenden untereinander gelegt. Die StudentInnen verfügen über einen eigenen Projektraum (Südflügel) und veröffentlichen das Jahresmagazin fountain, das ihnen auch über den Studienbereich hinaus Kommunikation und Sichtbarkeit ermöglicht. Ziel der Ausbildung ist die Entwicklung einer eigenständigen künstlerischen Haltung und die Fähigkeit, erfolgreich als KünstlerIn arbeiten zu können. Ready-made, installation, environment, land art, minimal art, happening, public art, process art, performance, intermedia, relational aesthetics–no artistic discipline has evolved and expanded more rapidly over the past decades than sculpture. It confronts our modern world of goods and merchandise with its own materials, endows spaces with new experiential value through architectural, media-related or acoustic interventions or conjures up visionary, novel, unprecedented objects. This extended sculptural practice is at the heart of the programme Sculpture-Transmedial Space. In workshops and photography, computer and sculpture studios, students engage intensively with practical, theoretical and conceptual questions of contemporary art and culture and tap into a wide spectrum of stimuli including manifold seminar focuses, international guest lectures and study trips. Special attention is dedicated to active participation and co-operation between students. Students dispose of their own project space (southern wing) and publish the annual magazine fountain, which enables them to communicate and acquire additional visibility beyond the university environment. The goal of the programme lies in developing both an independent artistic position and the skills to embark on a successful career as an artist.
