Bildnerische Erziehung in Linz ist eine zukunftsorientierte Studienrichtung, die den Profilschwerpunkten „Intermedialität und Interdisziplinarität“ der Kunstuniversität Linz folgt und die Wechselwirkung zwischen unterschiedlichen Medien in Theorie und Praxis zu einem Arbeitsschwerpunkt und Forschungsgebiet erhebt. Im Spannungs- feld von wissenschaftlichen Theorien zu Kunst, Kultur und Pädagogik, dem eigenen gestalterischen Schaffen und der praktisch pädagogischen Tätigkeit mit Jugendlichen bietet das Fach eine Auseinandersetzung mit der Rolle des Visuellen, des Sinnlichen, der Kunst und Kultur in Zukunft, Gegenwart und Vergangenheit. Das Studium der Bildnerischen Erziehung versteht sich als fundierte Ausbildung, die sich an den Anforderungen des Lehrberufs orientiert. Ein hohes Maß an beglei te ten Schulpraktika soll Studierenden ermöglichen, emanzipatorischen Unterricht durchzuführen und SchülerInnen in der Gestaltung eines sozial kompetenten, selbst bestimmten und an Kultur orientierten Lebens zu unterstützen. Neue Studienpläne sind in Entwicklung. In line with the Kunstuniversität’s integrated media approach, the Linz Art Education programme is a future-oriented programme, with training and research activities focusing on the interaction between the different media, both in theory and practice. Amidst scientific theories on art, culture and education on the one hand, and the students’ own individual creativity and hands-on teaching of young people, Art Education offers an in-depth study of the roles of visual, sensory, creative and cultural aspects both past and present. Reflection and analysis of perception processes, teaching of content and fundamental facts relating to cultural studies are central themes discussed from different educational angles. The Art Education curriculum is conceived as an in-depth programme to prepare for the requirements of the teaching profession. Numerous supervised practice stints at schools enable students to embrace an emancipatory style of teaching and to support their pupils in the active shaping of a socially competent, self-determined and culture-oriented life. New curricula are currently being developed.
