Das Lehramtsstudium Mediengestaltung bietet in einer von digitalen Medien zunehmend geprägten Welt-, Bildungs- und Forschungssituation einen zukunftsgerichteten Studienbereich an, der in seinem transdisziplinären Ansatz den Profilschwerpunkt der „Intermedialität“ der Kunstuniversität Linz weiter vertieft. Eine Kernfunktion aller Bildungsinstitutionen ist die Übermittlung wissenschaftlichen und kulturellen Wissens, auch in ihren neuen Ausformungen durch die digitalen Medien als Erweite rung der Kulturtechniken. Diese Studienrichtung versteht sich daher nicht nur als gesellschaftlich notwendiges Lehramtsfach zur Vermittlung und Erprobung künst lerisch-medialer Praxis und Bildung sowie deren Reflexion, sondern ist auch ein Quer schnittsfach der digitalen Kompetenzerweiterung auf der Basis von Kunst und Kultur, das in schulischen und außerschulischen Kontexten seine Anwendung finden kann. In a world where research, education and life in general are increasingly characterised by digital media, the Media Design teacher training programme offers a futureoriented curriculum whose transdisciplinary approach further intensifies the “intermediality” focus that is a central part of the profile of Kunstuniversität Linz. A core function of all educational situations lies in the communication of scientific and cultural knowledge, including its state-of-the-art embodiments fostered by digital media as an extension of cultural techniques. Thus the curriculum should not only be understood as a socially essential teacher training programme for the communication and testing of artistic and media practice and education and the re flection of these fields, but also functions as a cross-sectoral thematic area that en ables students to deepen their digital skills on the basis of art and culture in order to apply these new competencies in both scholastic and extramural contexts.
