Das IFK Internationales Forschungszentrum Kulturwissenschaften | Kunstuniversität Linz in Wien ist ein Wissenschaftskolleg, das den internationalen Austausch verschiedener Disziplinen fördert. Dass Senior-Fellows, Research-Fellows und Junior-Fellows gemeinsam forschen, verbürgt den Wissenschaftstransfer der Generationen. Die Phi losophie des IFK beruht auf den Grundsätzen von Überschaubarkeit, Kommunikation und Austausch der Disziplinen. Die Überschaubarkeit der Organisation ist nicht Selbst zweck, sondern soll den GastforscherInnen und NachwuchswissenschafterInnen Gelegenheit geben, miteinander ins Gespräch zu kommen. Zentren wie das IFK erlauben es, jenseits der Routine der Universitätsverpflichtungen und entlastet vom Druck des Broterwerbs, den eigenen wissenschaftlichen Projekten nachzugehen. Sie bieten die seltene und in Universitäten kaum noch wahrnehmbare Chance, sich im Rahmen von Diskussionsrunden und Gesprächen auszutauschen, neue Ideen zu entwickeln und Projektentwürfe zu testen. IFK International Research Center for Cultural Studies | University of Art and Design Linz in Vienna is a scientific body promoting international exchange between various disciplines. The fact that senior fellows, research fellows and junior fellows are conducting their research activities together ensures the transfer of scientific knowledge between generations. The philosophy of IFK is based on the principles of smaller, manageable dimensions, communication and the exchange between disciplines. This smaller scale of the organisation as such is not an end in itself, but aims to provide guest scientists and young scholars with an opportunity to talk and swap ideas. Centres like IFK make it possible for scientists and scholars to follow their own, individual projects far away from the routine of university tasks and the necessity to work for a living. They offer the rare and— within universities—yet almost non-existing opportunity to exchange opinions in the context of discussion rounds and talks, to develop new ideas and to test new project concepts.
