BÜRGERMEISTER DER LANDESHAUPTSTADT LINZ MAYOR OF THE CITY OF LINZ MMAG. KLAUS LUGER Die Kunstuniversität bildet einen wesentlichen Schwerpunkt im vielfältigen Angebot der Universitätsstadt Linz. Das neu gestartete PhD-Programm und das dafür ebenfalls neu aufgelegte Förderprogramm PEEK des Wissenschaftsförderungsfonds werden der wissenschaftlichen Forschung in Linz wertvolle Impulse geben. Seit Herbst 2015 wird auch das neue Bachelorstudium Fashion & Technology angeboten, das in der Tabakfabrik angesiedelt ist. Die Räume stellt die Stadt Linz der Kunstuniversität zur Verfügung. Mit dem Um- und Ausbau der denkmalgeschützten Brückenkopf-Gebäude am Hauptplatz nach einem Entwurf von Architekt Adolf Krischanitz wird die Lebensstadt Linz ein neues Zentrum der künstlerischen Lehre und Forschung erhalten. Mit dem Transzendenz Aufzug, der zehn Meter über das Brückenkopf-Gebäude Ost hinausragt, könnte es ein neues architektonisches Markenzeichen für Linz werden. Die Stadt Linz beteiligt sich an den Baukosten mit vier Millionen Euro. Ich gratuliere der Kunstuniversität Linz zur heuer wieder aufgelegten Imagebroschüre UNI:VERSE, die schon mit ihrem Erscheinungsbild die Kreativität der Studierenden und Lehrenden spüren lässt und mit ihrem Umfang das breit gefächerte universitäre Angebot zum Ausdruck bringt. The University of Art and Design constitutes a key focus among the varied study offerings that characterise Linz as a venue of higher education. The newly conceived PhD programme and the equally relaunched grant programme PEEK of the Austrian Science Fund will generate valuable impulses for scientific research in the Upper Austrian capital. Since autumn 2015, the new Bachelor curriculum Fashion & Technology domiciled at Tabakfabrik Linz is likewise available. The premises are placed at the disposal of the University by the City of Linz. Based on a design by architect Adolf Krischanitz, the refurbishment and enlargement of the protected Bridgehead Buildings in the Hauptplatz will add a new centre of artistic study and research to our vibrant city. With the Transcendence Lift extending ten metres up from the Eastern Bridgehead Building, it could become a new architectural landmark of the Upper Austrian capital. The City of Linz contributes the amount of Euro four million to the construction costs. I would like to congratulate the University of Art and Design for this year’s new image brochure UNI : VERSE, whose visual appearance already conveys the creativity of its students and teachers and whose volume is a clear expression of the wide-ranging study offerings of Kunstuniversität Linz.
