Die Studienrichtung Industrial Design konzentriert sich auf die Gestaltung und Entwicklung von seriellen, innovativen Produkten. Industrial DesignerInnen arbeiten im Spannungsfeld von Mensch, Technik, Technologie, gesellschaftlichen Trends und strategischer Produktpositionierung. Dementsprechend vermittelt das Bachelorstudium technisches, konstruktives, materialtechnologisches, strategisches und marketingseitiges Wissen und fördert die gestalterisch-künstlerische Innovationskraft als Basis für den späteren Beruf als DesignerIn. Im Berufsumfeld ist Industrial Design Motor und essenzieller Bestandteil professioneller und nutzerorientierter Produktentwicklung, bietet aber auch Betätigungsfelder in den Beratungsbereichen Innovationsstrategie und Marketing. Mit einem Schwerpunkt auf die Verbindung von Industrial Design zur digitalen Vernetzung eröffnen sich zudem neue Perspektiven in der Technologiebranche. The Industrial Design programme focuses on the design and development of serial, innovative products. Industrial designers are active at the interface of humanity, technology, social trends and strategic product positioning. The Bachelor programme accordingly imparts knowledge in the fields of technology, engineering, material science, strategy and marketing and moreover fosters innovative skills relating to both design and artistic expression as a basis for the graduates’ later work as designers. With regard to the graduates’ future careers, industrial design serves as a driver and essential element of professional and user-oriented product development but also offers varied fields of activity in consulting by involving areas such as e.g. innovation strategy and marketing. Moreover, a strong focus on the links between industrial design and digital networking opens up novel perspectives in the technological sector.
